The Food Standards Agency recommends that if you are pregnant or breastfeeding you should take a 400iu/ 10µg supplement of Vitamin D each day.

Older people should also consider taking 400iu/10µg of Vitamin D each day. Others who may be at risk from Vitamin D deficiency include people who:
  • are of Asian origin
  • rarely get outdoors   
  • eat no meat or oily fish

If you aren't getting enough Vitamin D, you might be more at risk of some of the harmful effects of too much Vitamin A.
