A superior source of Omega-3 fatty acids

Our Antarctic Krill Oil is rich in phospholipid EPA and DHA Omega-3 fatty acids. One major difference between krill supplements and other Omega-3 sources of fatty acids is that krill oil is rich in phospholipid Omega-3s which are water dispersible, whereas other marine oil Omega-3s are bound to triglycerides. This considerable difference is one of the factors favourably affecting the way in which our body can absorb and utilise the Omega-3. Triglycerides are the form of fat molecules the body uses for energy and stores as body fat for future energy needs.

One difference between triglycerides and phospholipids is that triglycerides have a tendency to float on top of stomach fluids which can cause fishy burps whereas phospholipids disperse in water and blend into stomach fluids which results in no fishy aftertaste.

Unlike many dietary-supplement fish oils, Krill is also rich in natural astaxanthin.

Sustainably and responsibly sourced

We source our Krill Oil from the clean and unpolluted waters of the South Atlantic/Antarctic Ocean from Aker BioMarine. Sustainability and eco-harvesting is a hugely important factor for this manufacturer. The sustainable management of krill resources in Norway is supported by WWF-Norway and the Aker BioMarine’s krill fishery is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC^). A large investment is made into ensuring that no harm is done to the ecosystem so that we can continue to benefit from this resource as an rich Omega-3 supplement.

Service rating: I have bought just Vitamins products for many years. The website is easy to use and the supplements always arrive quickly.
Product: I find this supplement easy to take with no reflux from them. When I was a child my mother always made sure I had a fish oil capsule each day. I take Antarctic Krill because it is from the clean sea around Antarctica and feel that these are the best.
