JUST Vitamins technical and nutrition consultant Dr Mahmood Bashir is uniquely placed to offer our customers personalised, scientifically sound advice about our products.

Dr Bashir, a clinical chemist with a PhD in pharmaceutical drug development, joined the natural supplement industry in the 1990s when it was still in its infancy. He was then one of only a handful of chemists working in the field.

Originally destined for the world of conventional drugs, his extensive scientific research into natural supplements led him to become increasingly convinced of their ability to help support and improve well-being. He went on to become one of the leading voices in Britain for the development of good quality supplements backed by clinical research.

His pioneering work has seen him train many hundreds of complementary and alternative practitioners, pharmacists, doctors, hospital consultants and other health care workers across the UK in the potential benefits of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and herbs.

Dr Bashir has also been involved in the development of more than 40 new supplements, including the recently launched Just Vitamins products Osteo4 and Bioguard. He believes his background in chemistry has allowed him to develop excellent quality vitamins that are delivered to the body in the most effective way possible.

Today Dr Bashir is also a clinical nutritionist in a private clinic, where he offers his clients personalised advice on how natural supplements may be able to improve their health.

Dr Bashir offers customers a detailed telephone consultation, taking into account factors such as their age, lifestyle, diet, symptoms and any conventional drugs they may be taking.

‘Once I have built up a detailed picture of a customer’s health over the last three years I will offer my opinion as to which supplements may be able to help,’ he says. ‘But I will never try to sell a supplement for the sake of it. I will only advise people to take something if I think there is enough scientific evidence that it will work for them.’

Dr Bashir, who firmly believes that there is a role for both conventional and natural medicine, is also happy to talk to a customer’s GP should they require any further details of scientific data.

With statistics now showing that eight out of ten of us are lacking in at least one micronutrient Dr Bashir passionately believes that research shows many of us could benefit from taking the right natural supplement.
